This term, as their community service project, 19NX Cubs voted to hold a bake sale to benefit the Salvation Army. The Neville’s Cross EcoFest organisers generously allowed the Cubs to have a stall at the EcoFest at St John’s Church on Sun 16 June to hold their bake sale. Cubs baked and decorated fairy cakes in the meeting before the EcoFest, but they were also very busy at home making cookies, brownies, rocky road, crispy cakes, refrigerator cakes, and other sweet treats. They baked gluten free and vegan treats as well. Some of the Cub carers and wider community also contributed small cakes and savoury treats (like lentil balls and onion bhaji). Cubs took 1-hour shifts to sell the baked goods, which they seemed to really enjoy doing as they attracted other young people to help out. They represented 19NX and Scouting well and raised an amazing £424.38, all of which has been donated to the Salvation Army. The Cubs would like to thank the Neville’s Cross EcoFest organisers and the 19NX community (leaders and carers) for supporting their fundraising efforts.
