What’s it all about?
Every year the Durham City District runs a Scout Cooking Competition where each group in the district has the opportunity to enter up to 3 teams of 3 to compete for the trophy. The theme is cooking under camp conditions where scouts are given one double burner stove, pots and pans suitable for camp and a task to provide a three course meal which includes 3 or the 5 a day, costing no more than £7 per head.
What did we do?
We were a little cheeky and entered four teams this year, 3 teams of 3 and 1 team of 2. Although we didn’t win, scouts worked well together to produce some safe, edible food which is fantastic. With dry and bright weather conditions and dare I say, some SUN, we even managed without any sort of shelter which, compared to last years washout is quite amazing.
The official results have not yet been released and will be added here when they become available. However I do know that our best scoring team came 4th overall from 11 teams. WELL DONE!
